Santa Claus Came to Town
Lucia met Santa for the first time on Friday. She sat on his lap and told him what she wants for Christmas. Well okay, maybe she didn't talk to him, but she smiled and we got some good pics. Afterward, Santa's helper somehow gave her a candy cane without me seeing and I only noticed once she was already sucking on it! Luckily, it was still covered in plastic. It was a great day and poor Lucia was pooped when it was all over.

Sweet Potatoes...No Thanks
Today was our first attempt at homemade baby food. I had heard great things about sweet potatoes as a first veggie so even though neither Antonio or I like them, I thought we'd give 'em a try. Well, it seems as though that particular dislike runs in the family. Lucia gagged at the
taste...not once, but various times.

Six Months Old!
We made it! Lucia celebrated her half-birthday on Wednesday. She has grown and changed so much over the past six months, we just can't believe it. Take a look at the pictures! It doesn't seem like we're going to be able to use the sign anymore...we couldn't even get a picture in this time before she grabbed it, crumpled it up, and attempted to eat it. From now on she'll be sporting a onesie to show off her age!

First Foods
In honor of Thanks-giving, besides dressing her up like a turkey, we also let Lucia try her first solid food. Rice cereal with milk was on the menu. Although she seemed eager to eat at first, it was not what she (or we) expected. We're not really sure how much actually went down. It seemed like most of it ended up on her bib. She did, however, in true Thanksgiving Day style, take a 3.5 hour nap afterward.

Pretty in Purple...and Pearls
Well there will be many other firsts, but this is one for the books...Yesterday, Lucia wore purple for the first time ever! Her wardrobe consists mostly of pink, with a little green and orange here and there, but until now there was no purple. We also changed her earrings and now she's gone from white gold to pearls. It was a little difficult...I had to hold her head while Antonio took out the earrings, but it only took a few minutes. Isn't she lovely?

Baby's Bedroom
We'll, I'm finally 98% finished with Lucia's room! Yesterday we hung the curtains and I re-upholstered the ottoman. The two percent that is still left are the pictures for the frame on the wall and the new bedspread for the twin. (I ordered one that exactly matches the crib bedding!) Yes, this nursery took a while to put together, but I wanted it to be perfect. I told Antonio we're going to have to take the walls with us when we move. I spent at about 40 hours painting them - no that is not wallpaper!

My Fairy Princess
So, Halloween has come and gone. Lucia got to wear her fairy princess costume (courtesy of Nana) four times! First, on Tuesday we had a party with the Spanish playgroup. Then, on Wednesday we wore costumes at the University playgroup and again, of course, that evening while handing out candy to the trick or treaters. What an exhausting day! Finally, on November 2nd, we went to the Fall Costume Carnival at DAA. We even got some pictures in the pumkin patch! Maybe next year we'll shell out the $25 for a real pumpkin...that's how much they go for here!

Beginning of a Blog
So, after five months, one week and two days, I'm finally starting a blog for the Loveys. Hey, better late than never. We had a rough start...I'm lucky I even took any pictures in those first three to four weeks. Then, we were traveling. After that, we moved. So here we are now. And c'mon, she's not even six months old yet...we have a lot ahead of us to write about.
